Delcam is pleased to announce that Kecily Yu Jou Hung was the winner of the 2013 ArtCAM JewelSmith Award. This Award is given each year to a 3rd year graduate student from the Jewellery Arts Program at George Brown College in Toronto who demonstrates innovation and excellence using Delcam’s ArtCAM JewelSmith software for the design and manufacture of jewellery.
George Brown College has been using ArtCAM JewelSmith as part of its curriculum since 2005. Over that time, it has become one of North America’s largest and best-equipped jewellery schools. Students who attend the course learn how to use the most current materials and processes skilfully and creatively to design and manufacture custom jewellery pieces.
"Delcam is pleased to be recognised as the software vendor of choice by such a distinguished school as George Brown College and is happy to show its support by presenting this Award,” said Scott Ingram, Delcam Account Manager for ArtCAM JewelSmith. "Jewellery-making is a growing industry in Canada, and this program helps independent artists to develop the jewellery-making and design skills needed to start a career in the industry. The program not only focuses on the goldsmithing techniques and design skills that are necessary to succeed as a designer/goldsmith but also teaches broader aspects of jewellery-making including sawing, filing, soldering, casting and forging, plus decorative metal techniques such as inlay, filigree and chasing, as well as the particular needs of working with silver, gold and platinum.”
This is the 3rd year that Delcam has awarded one of the graduating students at George Brown College a seat of ArtCAM JewelSmith to continue to develop their jewellery portfolio. Scott Ingram, presented Kecily with the Award commenting, "We were very pleased by the standard reached by all the students at George Brown. It was an extremely tough decision to pick a winner out of all the fantastic designs.” Kecily was delighted to receive the Award saying that it made her extremely proud of her work. She promised to make some even more impressive jewellery with her new seat of ArtCAM JewelSmith in future.
